History of Sustainable Finance in Cambodia
In Cambodia The Association of Banks in Cambodia (ABC) has played a significant role in the adoption of Sustainable Finance principles by banks.
On 31st October 2018 the circulation of Cambodian Sustainable Finance Principles was approved and on 16th November 2018, ABC issued an official letter to all Member Banks to adopt the Cambodia Sustainable Finance Principles. By December of 2018, a majority of Banks in Cambodia’s started to adopt the Sustainable Finance Principles which were officially launched by National Bank of Cambodia in March 2019,
These principles reflect many of the traits that have today become widely known as ESG issues – in other words - characteristics and issues that need to be considered if we are really to act in a sustainable way.
